Your home looks very festive! Enjoy the few days left that lead up to our celebration of the birth of Christ.

Do you know anything about the word xmas? Here many people use it to shorten the word Christmas. My daughter was telling me that the letter x in Greek means Christ...so really it is still keeping Christ in Christmas- what do you think? I prefer Christmas myself versus xmas.

Kimmie the Greek word for the Christmas is (ΧΡΙΣΤΟΥΓΕΝΝΑ) is complex word and is constituted by two words.
ΧΡΙΣΤΟΣ = CHRISTOS = Christ + GENNA = born,
means Christ + born = ΧΡΙΣΤΟΥ(gram. second person) + ΓΕΝΝΑ = ΧΡΙΣΤΟΥΓΕΝΝΑ = CHRISTOYGENNA = CHRISTMAS =Xmas.
CHRIST= CHRISTOS = ΧΡΙΣΤΟΣ
In your country, you have a habit, to be cut the big words. Thus the word Christmas, some bodies him write for reasons of brevity Xmas.
Good is that it does not lose her meaning.
Letter X means CHRIST only in the cases, '' πΧ = προ Χριστού=before Christ=BC, and, μΧ = μετά Χριστού = after Christ=AC.
Of course almost in all the ecclesiastical books it is reported and is written ALWAYS entire the word CHRIST.
Likely however from me it escaped also something that this moment I do not remember.
Me it does not tease, how it is written, with each word him I feel in my soul.
I believe however you to give you occupy the difference.

Thank you for the lesson...(how great is it to have a friend in Greece!)

I will be sure to tell her that what she read was not correct-many times people try to cover up the things they do by trying to make it make sense afterwords.

I think it is a way to remove Christ from Christmas-as the secular world would prefer...presents,trees,a day off- but no reflection of God's only Son being born as Saviour of the World.

thank you for taking the time- I love the Greek, amazingly beautiful language!

Kimmie, many times, tried teams of persons twist the truth, for our Christ, with reasons, pictures, films, games in the PC's, and other.
They did not accomplish nothing, never him will accomplish because the faith, the alms and the love, are certain from the bigger virtues that gave the God in the person.
